How to Setup an IP Printer
First you need to find out the IP address of the printer
SNBC/Epson printers you would turn the printer off and hold down the paper feed button on the front of the printer and turn it on with you still holding down the feed button. This will show the IP address on the test page
Epson printer there is a little button on the back of the printer where the network cord plugs in to. Have them use a paperclip or toothpick to push in on this button till it prints a test page. This will have the IP address on it
NOTE This above step should only be used if you are unable to get any IP address, as doing this will reset the IP on the printer to it's default
You need to change the IP address to match the old printer
First you need to see if it is in the same IP range as the computers. So if the printer IP address is 192.168.3.XXX and the computer IP address is 192.168.3.XXX then you are good
If the IP address is different than the computer IP address they you need to add that range to the station
To add the range go in to network Connections > Local Area Connection > Properties > Internet Protocol
From here you need to have a fixed/Static IP address for the station. If you don’t have one in here you can get the data from the local area connections Status screen. You can also find the IP for the station by going to command prompt and typing in "ipconfig" this will show you the IP of the station, subnet mask, and gateway for the station if it's set for automatic IP
From the properties screen click on advanced. You need to add an IP address that is in the same range as the printer but not the same. So if the printer is 192.168.8.120 you can put in 192.168.8.115
Hit OK on the box and then the next window hit close. Don’t hit cancel on any of the windows. You may lose connection to the station temporarily on Splashtop, if you are unable to log back in at all, walk store through turning IP to automatic to get back into the station.
In the address bar type in the IP address of the printer
Click on Configure Interface and change the IP address to the IP address you want the printer to be and hit save then hit reboot
If this is a new install you will need to install the printer in windows
Click on start > Settings > Printers
Click add new printer
Check Local Printer but uncheck automatically detect printer
Next screen click on Create a new port and pick Standard TCP/IP Port
It will take you to a window to add an IP address. Type in the IP address of the printer
Hit next. It will sit there for a little bit then it will take you to this window. Just hit next on it then finish
This will take you back to adding a printer. For the Manufacturer put it as Generic and for the Printers put Generic / Text only. And hit next.
If it asks you to use Existing Driver just hit next
On the printer name put in the name (ex. Exp140, Kit130, RecS1) and pick no for the Default printer
Pick do not share and hit next
If you want to print a test page you can print here, otherwise hit no
You have now installed a Network Printer
