Dynamic Discounts

Dynamic Discounts

The two main components of a Dynamic Discount are the Dynamic Discount itself and the Dynamic Groups. Its best to start off by creating the groups first. Even the most basic of discounts require a group. If a discount requires multiple items you will need to create a unique group for each item type.CREATING A DYNAMIC GROUP

Click "Dynamic Groups" at the bottom and then navigate to the top and click "Add Group.  This will bring you to the group information screen. Each Dynamic Group must have a unique name. In the Group Description section, you can enter a basic description of the group you are creating.

Next you will need to specify the items that pertain to this group. You can search for items by item number, description, group or sub-category.

After completing these steps, you can create the group by clicking "ADD". Once your Dynamic Groups have been created you can build your Dynamic Discount.

CREATING A DYNAMIC DISCOUNTStart by clicking “Dynamic Discounts” on the bottom left, then click "Add Discounts".   There are quite a few fields for a dynamic discount but for now we’ll just go over the required and most commonly used ones. The name of the discount must be unique otherwise Arrow will give you an error and not allow you to save the discount.

Here you can enter a description of the discount you are creating.

There are 3 different types of discounts to choose from.

  • Amount: This is a straight dollar amount discount, whatever amount you enter will be discounted when the discount is applied.
  • Percentage: This discount type deducts based on a percentage.  Examples: 0.05 = 5%, 0.50 = 50%, and 1.0 = 100%.
  • Target Price: For this discount, you enter the desired check amount after applying the discount.

Entering an amount into this field will make it so the discount is not available until the order subtotal reaches the minimum check subtotal you entered.

The maximum discount field will limit the dollar amount a discount can take deduct from the order.    Example: A 20% off dynamic discount is created with a $7-dollar Maximum Discount Set. If an order totals $100 it will take off $7 instead of $20.Find the groups that you will use for the discount. In the # column to the left of the group you will enter the quantity of items needed from that group.

Example:  $4 off two 12” Pizzas. For this discount you would place a 2 next to the “12 Pizzas(incl.Specs)” group.

A completed Dynamic Discount should look similar to this.

APPLYING THE DISCOUNTTo apply the discount, you must ring up all the required items.  Next you will click Dynamic Discounts at the top left. This will bring you to the “Discounts Available For This Check” screen. Find your discount and click on it to apply it to the order. If you are not able to find your discount this means you did not meet the criteria of the discount. Double check your Dynamic Groups and make sure you have the right items added to the group. BOGO DYNAMIC DISCOUNTS

To create a Bogo discount you must first create a Bogo Group. Click Dynamic Groups and then Add Group.

After naming the group you must specify that the group is for BOGO by clicking Yes.

Like the standard Dynamic Group, you will select the items you want to include in this group. Once you’ve selected your items click “ADD” to create it.

CREATING A BOGO DYNAMIC DISCOUNT

BOGO discounts are made the same way as standard discounts with one exception. One of the groups in the discount must be a BOGO group.

BOGO groups are highlighted in green.     After you select your groups, specify the discount type and amount. Percentage amount will be applied to the BOGO group.   Applying the BOGO discount functions the same as a standard discount.
